WASHINGTON — The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of more than 16,000 ergonomic office chairs that pose a fall hazard.
The recall involves the Branch office chairs sold online at branchfurniture.com, amazon.com, westelm.com, containerstore.com, officedepot.com and other websites, sold from December 2025 through July 2026 for between $320 and $350.
Another 180 of the chairs were sold in Canada, and the CPSC is working with the Canadian government on this portion of the recall.
Branch has received 11 reports of the backrests detaching from the chairs. No injuries have been reported.
The CPSC said the recall involves height-adjustable ergonomic chairs and “only applies to chairs with backrest anchors that were incorrectly installed at the time of manufacture between Sept. 10, 2025, and April 22, 2026. The agency said the dates of manufacture in Thailand can be found on the label located underneath the chair’s seat cushion.

The CPSC advised consumers to stop using the recalled chairs immediately and contact Branch for a free repair kit. The kit includes a replacement backrest, installation instructions, three bolts and an Allen key.
Branch is contacting all known consumers directly, and impacted consumers will receive instructions on how to determine if their backrests are included in the recall. To obtain a repair kit, they also will be asked to submit photos of the manufacture label and removed backrest.
