GJ Styles names Rick Stroud executive VP of sales

HIGH POINT — Antique reproduction wood furniture specialist GJ Styles has hired industry veteran Rick Stroud as executive vice president of sales, a new position.

Stroud comes to the company with more than 35 years of industry experience, having been vice president of sales at Stein World and before this, vice president of sales at Thomasville Furniture Industries.

He also was previously national sales manager at Hekman Furniture and before this was executive vice president of sales and marketing at Progressive Furniture. He also was in sales and marketing leadership positions at Silver Furniture and Royal Patina.

In his new position, he will lead the company sales team to help expand the company’s presence in existing and new markets around the U.S.

He reports to Doug Diemoz, the new owner of GJ Styles, who said the company has recently put together the first sales team in its history. In June, Diemoz purchased the company from Glyn and Jill Styles, who founded the company in 1985 and moved it to High Point in 1997.

“Rick has dedicated his professional life to the furniture industry,” Diemoz said. “His commitment and passion for our industry is second to none, and I am proud that he is joining the next chapter here at GJ Styles. There is much ahead.”

Since its formation, the company has specialized in vintage designs made with reclaimed woods in categories including dining, occasional and accent furniture. Its expertise in these and other segments including upholstery and lighting has established the company as an industry style leader.

“I am honored to be leading the sales efforts at GJ Styles,” Stroud said. “Our rich heritage, excellent customer service and vision for the future compelled me to join the journey with Doug and team.”
