Winter show circuit begins this month

Here’s a quick look at major shows around the world in January and February

LAS VEGAS — As anticipated, the New Year kicks off with a host of shows in North and South America and Europe that are part of the winter home furnishings show circuit.

These events typically draw buyers from the U.S., Asia, Europe and the Middle East as well as Mexico and Canada.

Here is a quick rundown of the major events taking place during the winter season.

+ The first big show of the year is the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, which takes place Jan. 10-16 at the Dallas Market Center. It features a wide mix of gifts, home furnishings and décor, floral, holiday, housewares and gourmet products. It is held concurrently with the Jan. 10-14 Dallas International Lighting Show, also held at the Dallas Market Center and featuring more than 250 brands across the lighting segment.

+ Also on the January calendar is the Cologne Furniture Fair, which takes place Jan. 14-18 at the Cologne Messe Fairground. Spanning 10 halls, it will feature more than 800 exhibitors showcasing a wide mix of products including case goods and upholstery, bedding, home textiles, wall coverings, lighting, accessories and rugs.

+ It is followed by the Atlanta Market, which takes place Jan. 16-22 at AmericasMart in Atlanta. Temporary spaces are open Jan. 17-21. It features a product mix that includes indoor and outdoor furniture and home products, gifts and seasonal merchandise along with other home décor and apparel. The three main buildings feature a combined 51 floors of products and brands that draw retailers and designers from across the U.S. and more than 60 countries.

+ Maison et Objet in Paris is scheduled Jan. 18-22 at the Pierre Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the show features more than 2,500 exhibitors across indoor and outdoor residential furniture, lighting, rugs and other décor. + The next big show is the winter Las Vegas Market, which takes place Jan. 28-Feb. 1 at the World Market Center Las Vegas. According to the show website, it features more than 3,500 furniture, bedding, home décor, baby and kids products, lighting, outdoor furniture, housewares, seasonal, rugs and floor coverings and gift resources. + The Abimad Exhibition in Brazil is being held Jan. 30-Feb. 2 at the Sao Paulo Expo. Organized by the Brazilian Contemporary Home Furnishings Association, it features furniture and decorative objects plus a wide range of lighting, rugs and accessories from more than 180 companies throughout Brazil.

+ The winter edition of Expo Mueble in Guadalajara is taking place Feb. 14-17 at Expo Guadalajara. With an estimated 1.2 million square feet of show space spread over three main halls, the event features some 900 companies showing a mix of furniture and home furnishings products as well as other home décor and accessories. The show draws some 33,000 buyers from Mexico and other parts of the world.

+ Meble Polska is being held Feb. 20-23 at the Poznan International Fair Exhibition Center in Poznan. It features a wide mix of indoor and outdoor residential furniture and furnishings produced by Polish manufacturers for residential applications and for the hospitality and commercial segments.

+ Making its debut in Miami this year is the Home Deco Expo, which takes place Feb. 29-March 2 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. It is expected to feature furniture and home furnishings products from 150 exhibitors that are considered among the leading manufacturers in their respective categories in Europe, Asia, Latin America and Canada.
