by MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Furniture First buying group has added Brooks Furniture in Winter Haven, Florida, and Colorado Style Home Furnishings in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, to its membership.
Brooks has been in business for more than 60 years. Three generations of the Brooks family are involved in the business, including Robin Brooks, who serves as president and son Derek, who works in the management of store operations. Brooks serves a wide swath of the market in central Florida, with designs and price ranges appealing to a variety of Florida households.
Colorado Style Home Furnishings has been in business for nearly 30 years. This South Denver fine furniture store is locally owned and operated by Terri and Brent Simon and features more than an acre of in-stock home furnishings. The focus is on custom order designs, “allowing their team of design professionals to create beautiful homes for their clients in the Denver metro area, surrounding suburbs, ski resort towns and along the Colorado Front Range,” according to a Furniture First release.
“We are really excited to see more family-owned businesses join our group,” said Andrew Kauffman, Furniture First chief executive officer. “Even though these newest members are in different parts of the country, with different retail strategies and merchandise mixes, they both will find great benefits from membership. We are not a ‘one-size-fits-all organization.’ We intentionally build in flexibility to fit a variety of retail strategies, as long as they sell new residential furniture and mattresses. We try to help independent retailers stay independent, and that includes building a strong foundation for ownership succession.”
