Jerome’s names George Burt vice president, E-Commerce and Omnichannel

SAN DIEGO – Jerome’s Furniture has hired George Burt as vice president, c-commerce and omnichannel, a new position created in the Top 100 retailer’s digital marketing department.

George Burt

He comes to the company from Layla Sleep, where he was vice president, operations and technology. Before that he was director, operations and technical planning at another Top 100 furniture chain, Bob’s Discount Furniture.

Prior to Bob’s, Burt worked for more than 11 years at Toys R Us in several management positions, including district manager and regional manager. Earlier in his career, he also held various management positions at Staples.

In his new role, he reports to Scott Perry, executive vice president, digital, who previously worked with him at Bob’s. Perry told Home News Now that Burt will help execute on the company’s omnichannel and digital road map moving forward.

“We are investing as a business in our digital future, and we really wanted to add a rock star to the team — George was that person,” Perry said. “He is an expert with in-depth knowledge around retail in general. He had a good run at Toys R Us and at Bob’s Discount Furniture where we worked together. He also has an intimate knowledge of e-commerce and e-commerce operations and omnichannel through his various positions in the past so he was a perfect fit for this position when we opened it up. He was our favorite candidate and we are lucky we were able to get him.”
