King Koil names Don Pflug vice president, operations

AVONDALE, Ariz. – Mattress manufacturer King Koil has named industry veteran Don Pflug, vice president, operations.

He was most recently with Southerland, where he was executive vice president, operations. In this role, he introduced Lean Six Sigma concepts across the company’s manufacturing, purchasing, safety, quality and transportation departments.

Before Southerland, he was vice president, Sealy domestic bedding assembly plants at Tempur Sealy International. Before that, he served in a variety of roles including vice president, operations for the East region, director of manufacturing and assistant director of manufacturing at Sealy for about 13 years.

Prior to joining Sealy, he was a plant manager and production control manager at steel components supplier Dietrich Industries for about 12 years.

In his new position, he reports to David Binke, CEO of King Koil.

“Don’s experience in operations, including his expertise in lean manufacturing, adds a new dimension to the many operational facets of our business,” Binke said. “We have been aggressive in ramping up production to meet the surge in demand we have been experiencing since the back half of last year. With Don on board as our head of operations, we will ensure that we meet our customers’ needs as efficiently and as profitably as possible.”

Pflug said he looks forward to his new position in the industry.

“Under its new leadership team, King Koil has done a tremendous job reimagining an already great brand and experiencing the robust growth of that successful strategy. I look forward to helping raise the bar on the manufacturing side of the business to support this growth,” he said.
