Century Furniture names 3 to creative, merchandising and product development roles

HICKORY, N.C. – Luxury furniture manufacturer Century Furniture has made three appointments it said will strengthen the company’s creative, merchandising and product leadership.

Skip Rumley has been named creative director, a role in which the company said he will help “guide the creative vision of the brand, working across product design, merchandising and presentation to shape future collections and bring a clear, cohesive point of view to Century.”

Skip Rumley

He comes to the company with more than 20 years of experience on the luxury side of the business, most recently having served as vice president of design and creative direction at sister company Hickory Chair and before this, vice president of design at Edward Ferrell + Lewis Mittman. He also was previously creative director of trade showrooms at Henredon and gallery designer for Polo Ralph Lauren.

“Skip brings an exceptional depth of design experience and a clear understanding of what gives a brand its creative identity,” said Alex Shuford III, chief executive officer of Rock House Designer Brands, which includes Century. “His perspective will be invaluable as we shape the next chapter of Century and continue developing collections with a distinctive and cohesive point of view.”

“Century has an extraordinary design legacy, and I am honored to help shape what comes next,” Rumley said. “I look forward to collaborating with the talented teams across the company to develop thoughtful, compelling collections that feel distinctly Century while continuing to move the brand forward.”

Alee Robles

The company also has promoted Alee Robles to product line manager for Curate and Grand Tour. She has been with the company for more than nine years, having previously served as case and outdoor product coordinator and customer service specialist.

“Throughout her tenure, Robles has distinguished herself through her product knowledge, professionalism and commitment to the company. Her deep understanding of Century’s product heritage and collaborative approach make her well suited to lead these important collections and support their continued growth,” the company said.

“Alee’s deep understanding of Century’s product heritage, combined with her strong collaborative approach and genuine excitement for the business, makes her exceptionally well suited for this role,” said Justin Binnix, vice president of case goods, outdoor and lighting. “She has earned the respect of her peers through years of dedication, reliability and an unwavering willingness to support both her teammates and our customers.”

Lauren Jones

The company also has named Lauren Jones as upholstery merchandising and creative coordinator. In this position, the company said, she will support merchandising, product development and creative initiatives across the upholstery division.

The company said she has a background in textile design, digital design and brand storytelling, along with firsthand experience supporting Century at multiple High Point furniture markets. She also has experience in digital print design, textile showrooms, marketing and content production.

“Together, these appointments reflect Century’s continued investment in creative direction, product leadership and emerging talent as the company builds upon its design heritage and prepares for its next chapter of growth,” the company said in a statement.
