At the start of the October High Point Market, Home News Now hosted a panel discussion with several executives on the credit side of the business called “Adapting to Change: The Evolution of Consumer Financing in Home Furnishings.” The panel was made up of Ed O’Donnell, CEO of Versatile Credit; Chris Guido, head of TD Owned brands; Mitch Fadel, CEO of Acima; and Shawn Roberts, vice president of finance at retailer Dufresne Spencer Group. Together these experts discussed the state of consumer financing in home furnishings, addressing a host of issues ranging from how consumer financing has changed in the past several years to the use of technology and data in the service of both clients and consumers. The experts also discussed the state of the economy and the importance of offering a diversified menu of credit options to address a wide mix of consumers. A key message was to assess consumers’ financial situation at the start of the process and determine a monthly payment plan that will suit their needs, thus allowing them access to what they want and need in the home furnishings space.
