Promotion makes her the first executive outside the founding family to lead the 71-year-old company
PITTSBURGH — Custom furnishings retailer Today’s Home has named Alyssa Moore president, making her the first executive outside of the founding family to lead the 71-year-old company.
She fills a role that has been held since 1987 by Jeffrey Lenchner, the son of Sigmund and Audrey Lenchner, who founded the custom interior retailer in 1953. He will retain the role of chief executive officer.

Moore has been with the company for 10 years, most recently as chief operating officer. She started with Today’s Home in July 2013 as general manager and director of customer service, then was promoted to vice president of operations and chief operating officer, a role she has held for just over four years before being promoted to president in January.
The company said that during her time at Today’s Home, she has “driven profitable growth and boosted market leadership with an approach that embraces creativity, innovation and inclusive collaboration” alongside the management team of Rachel Lenchner, chief marketing and merchandising officer; Paula Fitzgerald, finance director; Kaitlin Holloway, director of TH Trade Cos.; Morgan Wilson, general manager; and Ed Freiberger, warehouse manager.
As chief operating officer, the company said, Moore oversaw a transformation of the brand by “introducing a reinvented shopping experience where customers now find new showrooms with beautifully designed room settings” with high-profile luxury brands including Bernhardt, Hancock & Moore, Palliser, Sherrill, Rowe, Mavin, American Leather, Century, Natuzzi and Canadel. This effort also included the development of a new modern exterior of its 60,000-square-foot Greentree store, which also involved the talents of Martin Roberts Design, a New York-based influencer in visual merchandising, branding and rebranding concepts for the home furnishings industry.
“It is an honor for me to build upon the legacy the Lenchner family has created and to help usher this organization closer to its second century,” said Moore. “I am deeply inspired by the Today’s Home family of employees and all they do to deliver the very best experience and furnishings for our household and commercial customers throughout western Pennsylvania. I am looking forward to building upon our continued commitment to innovation in home and office design solutions.”
“The history of Today’s Home is a special one,” added Jeff Lenchner. “The foundation and focus with which my family has built the company has led to pioneering innovation in home and office design. We are committed to creating the best furnishings and accessories solutions in the Pittsburgh area and making quality design accessible to more people.
“With Alyssa taking the leadership role in the company, this will be the first time in our history that we will be led by an individual not part of the Lenchner family. She has earned this appointment through her dedication to the company over the last 10 years and has consistently demonstrated insight in all phases of our business.”
