Presley’s Furniture to close its doors after 44 years in business

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — After 44 years in business, Presley’s Furniture is closing its doors permanently. The second-generation owners plan to retire following the final liquidation of all merchandise.

Leading furniture promotional sales specialists Planned Furniture Promotions (PFP) is handling the going-out-of-business sale events, working closely with the family and staff of Presley’s Furniture “to ensure their customers continue to receive the exceptional quality and service the retailer has provided since 1981.”

“It has been a privilege to support the Presley family during this important transition,” said Tom Liddell, senior vice president of PFP. “Their commitment to integrity, customer service, and family values is evident in every part of the business.”

Presley’s Furniture got its start as The Wicker Palace when Jim and Dotti Presley first opened its doors in 1981. A year later, their sons, Scott and Todd, joined the business, “determined to help it grow and adapt to meet the needs of a changing market.”

By 2000, the family business was thriving, and with the opening of a new showroom adjacent to the original building, the company rebranded as Presley’s Furniture. The new, larger store allowed Presley’s to expand its product selection and offer a full range of home furnishings. Through the decades, the Presley family remained hands-on in every aspect of the business, earning a loyal customer base and a respected place in the Tuscaloosa retail community.

Presley’s Furniture begins its going-out-of-business sale on June 19. The Presley’s Furniture building is for lease and interested parties may contact Case McNeill at (205) 292-4643. For more information on the going-out-of-business sale visit www.presleysfurniture.com.
