MONTCLAIR, N.J. — Urban Natural Home, a furnishings retailer specializing in heirloom-quality furniture handcrafted in the U.S., will open its new flagship store at Lackawanna Station in Montclair, New Jersey, on Sept. 24.
At 10,000 square feet, the flagship will be twice the size of its current store at 5 S. Willow St. According to a news release, the new location will highlight Urban Natural’s marquee offerings, including an organic sleep section showcasing bestselling mattresses and a Design Library featuring samples of the retailer’s wood and fabrics. Urban Natural Home’s assortment also spans decor and furniture.
The latest store expansion marks the second time Urban Natural has increased its physical footprint in Montclair in three years. In 2023, the company moved from its original Bloomfield, New Jersey, location to its current Willow Street showroom. Urban Natural’s latest brick-and-mortar expansion is a healthy indicator of its growing business.
The retailer was founded in 2014 by Montclair resident Ali Qari. Qari’s introduction to the furniture business began in his family’s rug business. After college, he studied woodworking, design and metalworking and gained professional experience in the field before launching Urban Natural. Urban Natural has differentiated itself in the marketplace by positioning its business around its domestically manufactured products using materials free from harmful chemicals found in some furnishings.
The retailer is also promoting its offerings in a timely manner, offering a Labor Day sale starting now through the holiday weekend including discounts up to 20% off across a variety of categories. The sale will feature products from Urban Natural’s workshop partners, including GRAYN (available exclusively through Urban Natural), American Leather, Cisco Home, Copeland, Ethnicraft, Innovation Living, Kinship Studio, Luonto, Maple Corner Woodworks, Rowe, Thayer Coggin and Verellen.
