HIGH POINT, N.C. – The American Home Furnishings Alliance (AHFA) has added Alex Williams to its staff as manager of Sustainability and Regulatory Compliance Programs, a new position.

Williams will report to AHFA Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Bill Perdue. His primary responsibilities include refining existing sustainability and regulatory compliance programs and identifying opportunities for expansion. He will spearhead planning of AHFA’s annual Regulatory Summit and assist with various technical task groups.
“As regulations and standards become more numerous and complex, it is imperative that AHFA continue to provide its members with all the resources necessary to comply,” said AHFA CEO Andy Counts. “In this new position, Alex will be a tremendous asset to our AHFA member company executives. He brings an expertise that will allow us to expand our offerings and better serve our growing membership now and into the future.”

He comes to AHFA from the Chamber of Commerce in Rome, Georgia, where he served as the director of workforce and government affairs, coordinating programs with employers, K-12 and higher education partners, non-profit organizations, local industries and community stakeholders.
Prior to his work in Georgia, Williams was the political director for Herschel Walker’s U.S. Senate campaign and an economic development policy analyst for the Mississippi Development Authority in Jackson. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as a legislative liaison for the authority and managed various CARES Act grant programs, including a $240 million program to support small business. He also served in the administration of Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant from 2018 to 2020.
