Company plans to use its Greenwood, Mississippi, operation as a manufacturing hub for its art and botanical lines
WHITSETT, N.C. — After more than 40 years of being based in Mississippi since its founding in 1980, luxury furniture manufacturer John-Richard is moving its corporate headquarters and centralized distribution to a 236,000-square-foot facility here next month.
The company said that the Piedmont Triad region that is home to High Point gives it access to a large pool of local talent in addition to access to major ports and interstates that provide a direct link to its customer base.
“After a transition in ownership in 2020, a strategic decision was made to relocate key components of the growing operation to North Carolina,” said Andrea Kimbrell, chief operating officer, of the move, planned for Oct. 15. She added that the Piedmont Triad area “has been long acknowledged as the heart and soul of the furniture industry.”
The company said that its previous headquarters in Greenwood, Mississippi, will continue to operate as a manufacturing hub for the company’s art and botanical lines. It is now operating from an additional 430,000-square-foot leased facility, but plans to consolidate this into its company-owned facility, which totals 250,000 square feet and employs more than 100 workers.
The company said this transition was made possible with the move of its distribution to the Whitsett, North Carolina, facility. In addition to placing the company at the heart of the home furnishings industry, it noted that the move facilitates strong partnerships and enhances access to key resources.
“As John-Richard continues to evolve, its unwavering dedication to timeless design and superior quality remains stronger than ever,” the company added, noting that it “believes the move to North Carolina will greatly improve its service to customers.”
