CITY Furniture is one of the top 20 largest employers in Florida with more than 2900 associates from Miami to Orlando and soon to be in Tampa. The 51st Anniversary celebrates a family-owned business rooted in South Florida by two brothers, Keith and Kevin Koenig, whose legacy is now being carried on by CEO, Andrew Koenig, and his team.

“It’s hard to believe CITY’s 51st anniversary is around the corner, and I am so proud to have been part of the last 43 years of growth,” said long-time associate Lynne Guzman, of CITY’s Document Retention Department. Guzman attests to the fact that CITY is truly a family-oriented business. Having joined CITY when her first child was in diapers, she recalls her daughter wandering the showroom, the corporate offices and even sneaking into Keith Koenig’s office to play telephone. CITY has always prioritized family and encouraged Guzman’s daughter to visit to the office over the years. Not surprising that when she came of age and a service position became available, she applied and got her first job with CITY. Today she is holding up the family tradition and serves as the barista of the Tamarac Showroom. The Guzman family is one of many that are part of the CITY family and have been for generations.

CITY’s roots date back to the 1970s when it opened its first Waterbed City store in Fort Lauderdale in 1971.  The store was later converted into CITY Furniture in 1994 and over the years the Company has evolved into a leading furniture and home accents destination. Style and value are at the core of everything CITY does, and with 22 showrooms across the state and an expansive e-commerce site, the Company is constantly evolving its lineup to bring customers the very best in home furnishings. The team at CITY prides itself on carrying something for every taste, every lifestyle, and every budget because a home should be as unique the person who lives in it. Innovation, continuous reinvestments into the business, and a family spirited culture have created a destination where hundreds of thousands of Floridians have purchased their furniture.

Andrew Koenig added, “We look forward to continuing to provide quality home furnishings at excellent values, to innovatively and sustainably create beautiful homes and do our part in making the world a better place.”
