Universal adds two to its corporate sales management team

HIGH POINT – Case goods and upholstery resource Universal Furniture has added two sales professionals to its corporate sales management team.

AJ Filloy

AJ Filloy will handle the northern region for Universal and Drew Ward will handle the company’s southern region.  Both began their respective roles Feb. 1.

Filloy comes to the company from Chateau d’Ax U.S.A., where he was a regional sales manager covering the western U.S. He began his career with the company as a sales representative on the East Coast and in the Midwest before moving to California in 2008.

He also has worked with Universal for the past several years, helping handle Williams Sonoma as an original equipment manufacturer business for Universal’s Conover, N.C. factory.

Drew Ward

Ward began his career at Universal in 2017 as a sales trainee. He started working in the northern California and Nevada territory where the company said he increased the business nearly 80% in his first year. He then moved back east to represent the company in Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana and was named Universal’s 2020 Salesperson of the Year.

Both report to Sean O’Connor, senior vice president, sales at Universal.

“It was an extensive search to ensure we found the best people for the job,” O’Connor said. “We feel strongly that the combination of Drew’s internal knowledge and AJ’s outside experience will make us stronger as a team.”
