Derro joins Nationwide Marketing Group as VP furniture and bedding

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Industry veteran Mike Derro has joined Nationwide Market Group as vice president of furniture and bedding, as part of the buying group’s continuing focus on the growth and development of the categories.

Derro, who is working closely with Nationwide director of furniture and bedding, Jeff Rose, “will lead the development and implementation of Nationwide’s strategic F&B value proposition for members and vendor partners,” Nationwide said in an announcement to members. 

Before joining the furniture, electronics and appliance buying group, Derro most recently was chief sales officer for FloWater, a Denver-based water purification company. But prior to that, he spent nearly 17 years with Serta and Serta Simmons Bedding, including five years as vice president of sales for Serta and three years as vice president of sales for SSB.

Also during his tenure, Derro managed Serta’s retail division, focusing on partnering with independent retailers to open standalone mattress stores, and managed it’s buying group division.

In the announcement, Derro noted his long-term commitment to “creating solutions for the independent retail community that drive both top- and bottom-line sales.”
