Retailers celebrate our nation’s 250th

To say this July Fourth is just another holiday weekend is a major understatement. Retailers around the country are honoring our Semiquincentennial with major sales events that aim to bring the celebration into consumers’ homes. Whether it’s living room, bedroom, dining or outdoor furniture, there are plenty of savings to be had heading into the holiday weekend. As store websites are often the first place people look before shopping, we once again navigated the web to catch a glimpse at what’s out there in terms of savings and financing offers. Below are several online promotions that caught our eye and that are likely to draw consumers seeking a good holiday weekend to make their homes more beautiful. And what better chance than a rousing 250th birthday party for the good ol’ USA!

At Baer’s, the Fourth of July sale includes storewide savings on many different categories. In addition, the company offers timely and relevant decorating tips for the bedroom, dining room, living room and more. Consumers wanting their furniture sooner rather than later also can shop what’s in stock and also check it out by store location. Discounted prices also are shown, giving customers a sense of how much they are saving on each item.

Walter E. Smithe’s sale gives customers $250 off plus 20% additional savings on purchases over $500. As the screen grab shows, they also can get 12-72 months special financing on the SmitheCard. Big savings are to be had on various categories, and the retailer makes the consumer’s selection process easy by providing key details such as product descriptions, dimensions and product photography that allows them to zoom in on the item they are interested in purchasing.

Ashley’s Stars & Stripes sale pays homage to our nation’s 250th anniversary with big savings of up to 60% off. These savings extend to different areas of the home, ranging from the bedroom and living room to the dining room and even the home office. Customers also can spread out the payments over time thanks to special 60-month financing. With offers like these, the consumer wins big, extending the holiday weekend celebration into a long-term investment in their home.

The Old Cannery is known for its holiday sales events that offer customers free hot dogs and beverages throughout the weekend as shown by this company mascot who looks ready to fire up the grill! Customers can browse by category and also base their purchase decision on what’s in stock. Customers also can see photos that detail different angles of each piece and also check out the dimensions to make sure it fits in their space. An add-to-cart option also lets them purchase the item they want online.

Bassett Furniture’s July Fourth sales event offers savings from 25% to 30% storewide and up to 24 months of special financing. As Bassett manufactures much of its line domestically, customers also can see different fabric, leather and finish options on various items, allowing them to visualize what it looks like on the site before making their selection. Detailed descriptions also are available, allowing them to determine whether the item is a good fit for their space, whether it’s a bedroom, living or dining area.

Slumberland’s Fourth of July Blowout event offers up to 60% off list prices plus other great deals as shown in the screen grab above. Savings are showcased by category as are fabric and finish options available on select items. Customer ratings also let shoppers know what others are saying about each item, giving them an additional boost in confidence before making their selection. Detailed product descriptions and product dimensions also help make the shopping experience easier, taking the guesswork out of the process.

Bob’s July Fourth promotion starts with a special offer of $250 per piece on sectionals, one of the most popular categories in the industry. As part of its Build Your Own program, it also offers multiple fabric options in addition to unique pieces such as its modular pet bed console. Granted, this item can’t hold a Great Dane or Great Pyrenees, but it definitely is a conversation starter for those who own smaller dogs and cats. And of course, Bob’s also offers special no interest financing if paid within 12 months.

As part of its July Fourth promotion, El Dorado Furniture showcased its leather sectional program on its homepage. The selection is wide and deep with different styles, covers and configurations. The savings extend to plenty of other categories as well, including bedroom, dining, bedding, outdoor furniture and more. The site also offers plenty of detailed information about each product, ranging from materials and stylistic elements to dimensions and weight, allowing the customer to choose with as much information in hand as possible.

On its website, Robb & Stucky is promoting “The United States of Style Event” that offers the consumer the freedom to design their home based on their individual style aesthetic. It’s a fitting theme for the 250th, given that the home is our most significant investment and one that is worthy of our time and energy. Photography on the site is highly inspirational with high-style products shown in beautiful settings. Consumers can also navigate the site using filters that narrow down their design preference as well as price.

Gardner White’s July Fourth promotion offers consumers the chance to save $250 for every $1,000 they spend, an immediate 25% discount. Products in each category ranging from bedroom and dining to living room, home office and youth furniture, are available at discounted prices. Consumers also have access to special financing with zero percent interest if paid in the first six months. They can also see what’s in stock, which gives them the opportunity to check out what they can have delivered to their homes as soon as possible.

Nebraska Furniture Mart’s July Fourth promotion offers savings on multiple products for the home. In addition to furniture, the savings can be found on area rugs, appliances and electronics. And the more you spend the more you save, with offers of $75 off purchases of $999.99 or more, savings of $150 on purchases of $1,499.99 or more and savings of $250 off purchases of $1,999.99 or more. Upholstery is a major area of emphasis with search tools that allow consumers to choose by fabric or leather, power or manual recliners and more. They also can jump to the in-stock tab to see exactly what’s available now from the company’s large inventory.

Havertys’ site lets consumers know right away that they can save on everything. While that’s an all encompassing term, the selection is also all encompassing with a mix of bedroom, dining, living room, office furniture and bedding, to name several core categories. Free design services also are available both in store and virtually, allowing consumers to chat with a design professional right from their home. Examples of various design projects also are on the site, which helps communicate the level of service and beauty available through this growing part of the retailer’s business.

At La-Z-Boy, consumers can participate in a July Fourth promotion that offers 30% off everything, plus an additional 5% off select items with minimum purchases of $1,499. The site also highlights in-stock availability on a wide mix of products including sofas, sectionals, chairs, recliners, ottomans and storage pieces. In addition, consumers can see what’s in stock and what type of financing is available, including no-interest for 12 months. Indeed, the deals are quite compelling, which should drive both traffic and written business during the holiday weekend sales period.

In Minnesota, the outdoor season is relatively short compared to many other areas of the country. So in its July Fourth sales event, Minneapolis-based HOM Furniture is promoting the category front and center on its website. But the savings extend to many other categories including living room, bedroom, dining, bedding, area rugs and flooring, to name several. The promotion also offers free 65-inch and 75-inch TVs with purchases of $1,999 and $2,999 respectively. Shoppers also can receive an extra 10% off the HOM price on purchases of $1,999 or more.

Lott’s Furniture is celebrating American craftmanship with its July Fourth promotion. It also is offering savings of up to $300 in bonus coupons and a mattress upgrade event offering an adjustable base for $200 with the purchase of a queen premium mattress set valued at $1,500 or more. On its website, consumers can filter their selection by a variety of options ranging from color and style to price and in-stock availability and more. Discounted prices are shown compared with the original pricing, giving consumers a sense of how much they are saving on specific items.

Johnny Janosik’s July Fourth promotion ties in with the 250th celebration by offering a $250 Mastercard Reward Card with every $1,999 spent or 250 weeks of no-interest financing. In addition to savings on all major categories, the site provides detailed descriptions and product photography and also lets consumers know what’s available in stock, so they can purchase what’s available now versus having to wait. The retailer also offers design services from respected professionals in the field, which often takes the guesswork out of the shopping process for many consumers.

Jerome’s website shows consumers relaxing at home and enjoying their new furniture the way furniture is meant to be enjoyed. In addition to discounted prices, consumers have the option of special financing with low monthly payments spread over 60 months. Another unique feature is its Oops Plus Protection Plan, which gives consumers an opportunity to go claim free for four years and get the difference back on their next purchase. “Don’t Use It – Reuse It” is the message here, encouraging consumers to take good care of their investment for future savings. Sounds like a win-win to us!

Queen City Homestore is celebrating the nation’s 250th with its “Chill Out With Summer Savings” promotion. In the furniture category, it’s offering savings of up to $250 on living room, bedroom and dining. It is also offering 12 months zero percent financing or 60-month special financing with the use of the Queen City Homestore credit card. Consumers can also shop by brand, price, category and what’s in stock for next-day/two-day delivery. While furniture is just part of a mix that includes appliances, electronics, grills and more, it’s becoming an even more important category, thus providing opportunities for consumers to furnish their homes in the many markets it serves.
