Shop Houzz tells customers it is ceasing operations

Closing does not impact Houzz platform or its services

PALO ALTO, Calif. — E-commerce furniture and decor sales platform Shop Houzz announced to customers that it is ceasing operations.

It announced the closing on its website this week, telling customers: “We are deeply grateful for your support and trust, and we sincerely thank you for choosing us to be part of how you create your dream home.”

It said as it winds down operations, it will continue to fulfill all outstanding orders and provide support to customers for all their recent purchases. It said if customers have questions regarding an order, a return or their account in general they can submit a request through the company’s contact us page.

The note to customers said that Shop Houzz operates independently and has no affiliation with Houzz.com or Houzz Pro. It noted that the Houzz platform and its services are unaffected by the announcement and continue to operate as usual.

In addition to residential bedroom, dining, occasional and upholstery, the Shop Houzz site also sold youth bedroom furniture, kitchen and bath furniture, and fixtures, mirrors, rugs, home lighting and outdoor furnishings, to name several core categories.

According to an AI overview of the company, it offered more than 10 million products, serving as a “one-stop shop, allowing users to buy products directly, featuring both well-known brands and independent makers.”

Other key services it offered included an augmented reality feature in its app that allowed customers to see how furniture and decor might look in their home, plus a visual match that allowed customers to find products similar to those in photos.

The AI overview also noted that while many customers had positive experiences shopping on the site, others had reported “issues with shipping damages, difficult returns and high return fees.”

  1. Railroadware was a vendor/partner with Houzz since 2009 and once cart.com took the product vendor platform over as ShopHouzz they never completed the conversion. They oversold their e-commerce services to Houzz. The interface was terrible and many Railroadware products over 200 were missing. I could not change them, add new photos or change pricing. It was the worst thing Houzz could do to their brand. in 8 months of complaints they never allowed a conversation. I use to sell 20K a year with them and after the change I did less than 10% conversion. What a waste of a great company & resource for professionals & designer products made in the USA!
