Martin Furniture names Nicolas Gaviria CEO

Executive brings more than 20 years of leadership experience to the company

SAN DIEGO — Wood furniture specialist Martin Furniture has named Nicolas (Nico) Gaviria as its new chief executive officer.

In the CEO role, he succeeds company founder and owner Gil Martin, who has been with the company nearly 45 years.

Gaviria brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience to the company.

He comes to Martin Furniture from textile manufacturer BekaertDeslee, where he worked for more than 10 years, most recently as vice president, strategy for the Americas. Before that he was vice president, market intelligence and analytics and vice president and general manager for the company’s Solutions Division, North America.

Before this, he was senior manager, strategic planning at Royalty Carpet Mills and manufacturing manager and senor process engineer at Shaw Industries.

He also previously served in the U.S. Marine Corps, specializing in logistics and operations.

Gil Martin said that he is pleased to welcome Gaviria to the company.

“Nico’s extensive experience in driving growth and innovation, combined with his passion for leading high-performance teams, makes him the ideal leader to steer our company into its next phase of success,” Martin said. “His deep understanding of operations and global market dynamics will be instrumental as we continue to expand our reach and improve our products and services for our customers.”

Gaviria received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a concentration in Finance from the University of Miami and Florida International University. The company said that he also has further strengthened his leadership capabilities through several executive leadership programs with a focus on organizational development and digital transformation. In addition, he is a certified Lean Six Sigma Green and Black Belt.
