by SOMERSET, N.J. – Ekornes Inc., the North American subsidiary of Ekornes and home to the Stressless and IMG Comfort brands, has named Matt Sorensen North American sales director, for the North region, effective October 7, 2026.
Reporting to Peter Bjerregaard, president, North America, he fills a role previously held by Todd Swiler, who was with the company 18 years.
Sorensen has more than 18 years of sales leadership experience in the home furnishings industry, having held key roles with Classic Home, United/Lane Furniture, Broyhill, and Simmons Bedding. Most recently, he was senior vice president of sales for Classic Home, where he helped grow annual sales and expanded partnerships with many of North America’s leading furniture retailers.
“We are excited to welcome Matt to the Ekornes team,” Bjerregaard said. “His extensive experience, strong retail relationships, and deep understanding of the furniture industry make him an excellent addition as we continue to grow both Stressless and IMG Comfort across North America.”
Sorensen brings significant expertise in lifestyle-focused retail channels, a strategic growth area for IMG Comfort. He also has a longstanding connection to the Stressless brand, having sold Stressless products early in his career while working in furniture retail.
