HIGH POINT — Antique furniture and décor specialist Asian Loft is moving its showroom and setting up a new warehouse in a space formerly occupied by the Henredon and Tommy Hilfiger brands.
The company will open its new 30,000-square-foot showroom in Suite 100 of 625 W. Ward Ave. in time for the Oct. 26-30 High Point Market. The company said the space nearly doubles the footprint it had at its former location at 443 S. Main St.
The building also will house its 20,000-square-foot warehouse, which will provide buyers access to its inventory, while also offering quick-ship capability. The showroom also will be open to buyers year-round.
“We’ve always been committed to offering distinctive, original works from around the world, and now we have the space to present them in a way that’s as special as the pieces themselves,” said owner Steven Sonneville. “We can showcase the craftsmanship of our collections from India, Indonesia, Morocco, Japan and China on an unprecedented scale.”
The company said it has enhanced various aspects of the space, including updated lighting that aims to better showcase the product line. In addition to Asian antique and reproduction furniture, the company sells original doors from old buildings as well as room dividers, statues, accessories, wall decor and storage pieces, including one-of-a-kind baskets, pots, scroll boxes, trunks and wooden containers, to name several.
“The process of working through how our space can accommodate an ever-changing array of products, both large and small, required a lot of adaptability in showroom design,” Sonneville said. “We’ve revamped everything, from how guests enter the showroom to how they interact with the vignettes.”
At market, the showroom will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 22-30. Lunch will be served each day, and a door-to-door shuttle service is available to transport buyers to and from the showroom and the Market Transportation Terminal. A grand opening is planned starting at 4 p.m. Oct. 24.
