The slats of units can break while in use, posing an entrapment and fall hazard
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — RTA furniture specialist Walker Edison has recalled 121,000 twin-over-twin bunk beds due to a potential fall and entrapment hazard that can occur when the wood slats supporting the units can break under the weight of an individual on the bed.
The company said it has received 14 reports of the slats in the bunk beds breaking, with one minor injury reported.
The recall involves 14 different models of bunk beds, which can be viewed here.
The United States Consumer Product safety commission has advised consumers to stop using the recalled bunk beds immediately and contact the company for a free repair kit that includes 12 wooden slats and new instructions on how to install those slat. The CPSC said the company is also contacting all known purchasers directly.
Made in Brazil and imported by Walker Edison Furniture LLC of Salt Lake City, they were sold online at Walmart.com, homedepot.com, amazon.com and wayfair.com from February 2010 through February 2022 for between $206 and $389.
