Miskelly Furniture makes organizational changes

Caleb Miskelly, other former directors are promoted to key positions; Mark Waters returns as vice president of operations

PEARL, Miss. — Miskelly Furniture has made several organizational changes aimed at fostering growth and expansion at the Home News Now 125 retailer. These changes elevate key personnel from director-level positions to become part of the executive-level leadership team.

Caleb Miskelly

The company named Caleb Miskelly, formerly director of sales, to the new position of chief retail officer. He joined the company in August 2018 as a sales associate and then was promoted to director of sales development and training a year later before being named director of sales.

“He is passionate about training, team growth and enhancing the customer experience,” the company said. “Caleb is committed to making Miskelly’s a place that customers want to continue to shop at and tell their friends about.”

Mark Waters

The company also has named Mark Waters vice president of operations. He returns to the company after a nearly eight-year absence.

Waters, who started his furniture career in customer service for Mathis Brothers Furniture, worked as a distribution manager for Miskelly for just over 10 years starting in July 2005. In August 2015, he became operations manager for Ivan Smith Furniture in Shreveport, Louisiana.

“He brings over 25 years of experience and is committed to growing the distribution center team as well as improving the efficiency of processes as new locations open,” the company said.

Elizabeth Ann Howell

In addition, the company has named Elizabeth Ann Howell vice president of design and culture, also a new position. She was previously visual merchandising manager for the past five years. In her new position, she will oversee projects, showroom floor design and company events.

“She has a heart for people and is committed to positively impacting people’s lives — whether through beautiful furniture for customers in their homes or for fellow team members by pouring into the Miskelly family,” the company said.

Troy Harrison

Troy Harrison has been named vice president of information systems, also a new position. The company said that in recent years, he has “played an integral role in helping to digitally transform the company. Troy and his team will be vital to the success of Miskelly’s as they help the company keep up with technology in this ever-changing world.”

The company said it has also filled director-level positions formerly held by some of the recently promoted executives.

The newly promoted executives all report to Oscar Miskelly, chief executive officer.

Oscar, Chip and Tommy Miskelly opened Miskelly Furniture in 1978 and have expanded the company over the years to become one of the top furniture retailers in the U.S. In 2022 it ranked at number 90 on Home News Now’s 125 listing of furniture and bedding retailers with seven locations in central and south Mississippi.

“Miskelly Furniture plans to be a 100-plus-year-old company, and these changes reflect its commitment to growth and expansion throughout the state of Mississippi and beyond,” the company said. “As the company continues to grow, the focus will remain on better understanding customers’ needs, enhancing the customer experience, and becoming the most loved furniture store in the Southeast.”
