Ikea recalls 12,000 Odger swivel chairs

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. — Retailer Ikea has recalled about 12,000 of its Odger swivel chairs because of a fall and injury hazard that can occur due to the chair leg base breaking.

The company has received four reports of the leg base of the chair breaking, which has resulted in two reports of consumers being injured as a result.

The recall involves the Ikea Odger swivel chair in an anthracite gray color. The name and date of manufacturer can be found beneath the seat, molded into the material of the chair. The chairs bear a date stamp including 2221 with the first two digits representing the year and the last two representing the week.

Manufactured in Italy, they were sold at Ikea stores and online at Ikea.com from October 2019, through December 2022 for about $160.

Consumers have been advised to immediately stop using the recalled units and return any chair bearing before and including 2221 to any Ikea store or contact the retailer for instructions on how to dispose of the chair to receive a full refund. Proof of purchase in the form of a receipt is not required.
