HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam — Full line furniture manufacturer AICO said it has opened a 500,000-square-foot plant and warehouse facility that also includes showrooms and professional offices.
Located in the Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park in the Binh Duong Province, the company completed the facility in early 2021. However the pandemic delayed the company from moving into the facility until earlier this year. It began shipping about two months ago.
The facility includes about 300,000 square feet of manufacturing and about 200,000 square feet of space for temperature-controlled warehouse and distribution, AICO officials told Home News Now.
The company said that since opening, the plant has doubled its number of staff and machinery and is near to shipping 50 containers a month of finished product. A full capacity, it will be able to ship 500 containers per month.
It currently employs about 100 workers, a number the company is seeking to maintain due to the highly automated nature of the plant.
“The factory is completely technologically advanced, and the idea is to manufacture mostly with machines and to use as little labor as possible.” Michael Amini, chief designer, chairman and CEO, told Home News Now.
The adjoining climate-controlled warehouse also can store 3,000 containers of finished product and features 36 automatic shipping and receiving docks with automatic levelers.
Other features include a 68,000-square-foot, four-story office that also has a 34,000-square-foot showroom. The company said the top floor also offers luxurious accommodations for management and guests.
“This facility is an incredible addition to the AICO manufacturing base,” said AICO President Martin Ploy. “The new warehouse layout, with all the processes in one place will allow for a more seamless operation in the future, increasing our efficiency and control and allowing us to meet the demands of our customers.”
Amini added that the completed facility is just part of the ongoing investments that the company is making to support its customer base.
“The investments that we’re making in our company are significant, and we look forward to continuing to develop and grow our offerings at AICO,” he said. “Expanding our capabilities with this new facility will give us the ability to accomplish that goal. We are very proud of the style and efficiency of this facility, which happens to be one of the most sophisticated and best-looking furniture facilities in South Vietnam, and we are looking forward to continued growth with our business partners.”
