E. Larry Ryder to retire from Hooker Furnishings Board of Directors

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Long-time Hooker Furnishings board member and executive E. Larry Ryder has told the company he will not stand for re-election to the company’s Board of Directors at its annual meeting of shareholders on June 7, 2022.

E. Larry Ryder

Ryder has been a director on the board since 2011 and was previously executive vice president finance and administration and chief financial officer along with other senior management roles with the company for 34 years before retiring in 2011.

The company said his decision to not stand for re-election was not due to any disagreement with the organization. He will serve through the remainder of his current term, and when he steps down, the board will be reduced from eight to seven directors.

Board Chair Henry Williamson described Ryder as an integral part of Hooker Furnishings for more than 40 years, including his long-time service on the board.

“He was a key member of the leadership team during Hooker’s greatest period of growth and its transformation from a small domestic case goods manufacturer to a full-line home furnishings importer and high-end domestic upholstery manufacturer,” Williamson said. “Larry’s contributions to the company are significant and long-lasting. We thank him for his service and wish him well in his retirement.”
