Diamond Mattress unveils patented Coolstream Ventilated Comfort Layers design

RANCHO DOMINGUEZ, Calif. (Nov. 10, 2021) – Diamond Mattress announced a newly patented innovation to its lineup with Coolstream® Ventilated Comfort Layers designed to maximize air flow for natural, cooler sleep.

Coolstream® is a foam encased design with specially ventilated layers that work in concert with the coil openings of the inner core to provide maximum air flow and heat dissipation. This unique system allows for complete breathability for a more cool and comfortable sleep. By having ventilated openings in the comfort and base layer, the sleeper can experience cooler sleep throughout the night.

Research published by the National Institutes of Health indicates that a comfortable sleep temperature is important for maintaining sleep as well as daytime activities and one’s health. It went further to say that “heat exposure increases wakefulness and decreases slow wave sleep and rapid eye movement sleep.”

“Sleeping hot, caused by built-up body heat, is one of the top reasons people are disrupted from sleep and do not feel rested when they wake up,” said Shaun Pennington, Diamond President and inventor of the Coolstream® Ventilated Comfort Layers. “The design enables natural air flow without the aid of devices or additives, and that’s important to a lot of people looking for cooler sleep solutions.”

The ventilated layer is directly secured to the springs and held in place by the mattress rails, preventing it from shifting out of position. In some cases, the comfort layer can be positioned so that the ventilation openings are aligned with the coil openings.

The Coolstream® Ventilated Comfort Layers, patent no. US 10,993,543 B2, was designed in the U.S. and made in Diamond’s family-owned factories in California and Texas. It has been a featured component in quality mattresses at retail since early this year
