New York – Architectural Digest, the international authority on design and architecture, and the Black Interior Designers Network (BIDN) announce the return of the historic industry-success, The Iconic Home, an all-Black virtual designer showhouse.
Figuratively nestled in the scenic Hudson Valley, the second annual digital showhouse will feature 12 new Black interior designers and architects, all of whom have been tasked to design with sustainability top of mind, providing a future-forward glimpse at how environmental change starts at home.
“We are thrilled to continue this important partnership with the Black Interior Designers Network and showcase the best of sustainable design on such an innovative platform,” says Architectural Digest global editorial director, Amy Astley. “In the era of climate change, when so many are considering sustainable living choices, AD remains committed to raising awareness of a planet-first mindset, highlighting design, architecture, and products that are both eco-friendly and beautiful.”
This year, the Iconic Home is presented in partnership with method®, a leader in design-driven home and personal care products for over 20 years. From its inception, Method has actively championed for diversity, creativity, design and sustainability, a shared mission they have with BIDN and Architectural Digest.
The designers will showcase their unbound creativity throughout the virtual showhouse, working with The Boundary, a world-leading creative visualization studio, to bring their visions to life in a photorealistic experience. This year’s participating creatives include:
- Architecture by Elizabeth Graziolo of Yellow House Architects
- Entry + Salon by Rasheeda Gray of Gray Space Interiors
- Great Room by Danielle Colding of Danielle Colding Design
- Kitchen + Pantry by Arianne Bellizaire of Arianne Bellizaire Interiors

Building on last year’s success, the virtual home tours will now allow visitors to “walk” through the house, discovering each designer’s unique perspective. AD PRO will provide a deeper dive into the architects, designers and artists that lead the creative direction of the showhouse. In lieu of ticket sales, visitors are strongly encouraged to donate to the Black Interior Designers Network, the industry’s first non-profit focused on highlighting designers of color and supporting business development opportunities for Black designers.
“Our historic partnership with Architectural Digest builds on the industry-wide need to prioritize diversity and inclusivity in design,” says Keia McSwain, president of the Black Interior Designers Network. “The talents of our 12 participants ooze through the digital screen. It shows visitors how to live life both stylishly and sustainably, and reminds us that the commitment begins at home.”
Built by The Boundary at the full creative direction of the participating designers and architects, the virtual showhouse features product innovations from Arhaus, Beautyrest, Crate & Kids, Garage Living®, Heat & Glo, KOHLER, and Rémy Martin. The Iconic Home will debut on archdigest.com on September 27, 2021, kicking off a full week of Instagram-driven events hosted by @ArchDigest.
