Corinthian to launch Verandah collection at High Point Market

Fabrics and frames have all been designed exclusively for Verandah, creating a look the company said ‘feels familiar, collected and fresh’

CORINTHIAN, Miss. — At the October High Point Market, upholstery manufacturer Corinthian Inc. is launching the Verandah collection that features a nod to nostalgic fabrics and classic frames that evoke a sense of tradition and comfort for today’s consumer.

The collection offers nine upholstery settings featuring sofas and loveseats along with a sectional, four styles of accent chairs and three cocktail ottomans.

The fabrics and frames all have been designed exclusively for Verandah, creating a look the company said “feels familiar, collected and fresh at the same time. It embraces the growing ‘Grandma Chic’ aesthetic, traditional patterns, inviting textures, timeless silhouettes and those small decorative details that make furniture feel like it belongs in a home, rather than simply sitting in a room.”

Frames feature the company’s Just Right premium comfort cushion, described as “combining the soft plush comfort customers want when they first sit down with the supportive, firmer core they need for lasting comfort and performance.”

Other details include exposed wood feet, nail-head trim, bull-nose cushions, rolled arms, plus tailored edges and pillow treatments.

Sofas are targeted to retail from about $999 to $1,100.

The settings will be shown in specific fabrics that are currently available, and the company will gauge reaction at market to determine what additional options may be added to specific groups. The goal is to introduce customers to this style direction, while opening the door to flexibility within the line, similar to how it has handled custom options with previous collections including its popular GenLiving line.

The traditional nature of the fabrics and frames reflects a shift back to familiar forms that evoke a sense of nostalgia among consumers. This shift also has been seen in fabrics offered in the licensed Erin and Ben Napier and Field & Stream lines at Best Home Furnishings to the tapestry-inspired fabrics seen at Arhaus and Craftmaster Furniture, to name a few.

This type of custom work is supported by the company’s cut-and-sew operations, part of its capability as a domestic producer.

“We are so fortunate to have the workforce and the staff here (in Mississippi) to pull this off,” said Lon Tripoli, vice president of sales.

In fact, tapestry-inspired fabrics were a big part of Corinthian’s business in years past. So expect at least one setting to be shown in a more expensive tapestry-inspired cover.

“That will be the anomaly,” said J.D. Townsley, director of marketing. “So the pricing will not be within our normal pricing, but it is going to be hugely under the market for what it is, and that will be our advantage.”

The company has also developed a logo for the line that features a magnolia, the state flower of Mississippi, representing “the pride we have in our home state of Mississippi and the Southern heritage behind Corinthian. It is set against a deep blue background that symbolizes a ‘rich confident foundation,’ with gold accents that reflect the timeless quality and classic value we work to provide our retail partners.”

At market, the collection can be seen at the company’s showroom in Space 101 of Centers of High Point Hamilton.
