Executive fills a role held by Leonard Marano, who recently left the company for another position
TOLLAND, Conn. — Lectra, a provider of industrial intelligence technology solutions for the fashion, automotive and furniture industries, has promoted longtime company executive John Brearley to president for the Americas segment, effective Oct. 1. He also will serve as a member of the group’s executive committee.
He fills a position held by Leonard Marano, who recently left the company for an executive role in the sign and graphics space after 11 years with Lectra and sister company Gerber Technology.

Brearley was most recently senior vice president of customer success at Lectra for just over five and a half years, and before that was vice president of customer care at Lectra Americas for just over 17 years.
Before this he was vice president operations of Investronica and before this was general manager of Macphersons, a division of Investronica, for just over nine years.
“He began at Investronica where he managed the business in the U.K., before moving to the U.S. in 2001 to lead the North American division,” the company said, adding that after Lectra’s 2004 acquisition of Investronica, Brearley was responsible for growing the Consumables and Parts segment, where his expertise in customer relations earned him the role of vice president of customer care for Lectra Americas in 2007.
In his new role, he will head up a division that contributes about a third of the company’s revenues, “serving a diverse portfolio of customers in the fashion, automotive and furniture industries,” among others.
Lectra said it operates in 31 countries in the Americas region, with 400 employees in seven locations, including Tolland, Connecticut, one of the group’s three production sites.
“We look forward to John Brearley continuing his impactful journey within the group as he steps into this pivotal leadership role,” said Daniel Harari, chairman and chief executive officer of Lectra. “With his extensive experience in the industry and a proven track record of leading our teams to support our customers and drive growth in Lectra’s recurring business, John is well-positioned to lead our Americas teams toward accelerated growth, strengthened customer relationships and achieve our strategic objectives.”
Brearley said he looks forward to this next chapter with the company.
“It is an honor to take on this new role at such a strategic moment for Lectra and our customers in the Americas,” he said. “My focus will be on supporting customers and ensuring that we empower them not just to meet the challenges of Industry 4.0, but to thrive — growing more resilient, agile and sustainable through every step of their digital transformation.”
