This marked the home improvement retailer’s 5th consecutive quarter of comp-store sales growth
MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Home improvement retailer Lowe’s reported an increase in sales for the second quarter ended July 31, resulting in its fifth consecutive quarter of increased comp-store sales.
Net sales totaled $26 billion, up 8.3% from $24 billion the same period in 2025. Net earnings were level, totaling $2.4 billion, or $4.27 per share, compared with $2.4 billion, or $4.27 per share last year.
Comparable sales for the quarter increased 0.2%, which the company said was driven by strong performance in Pro and home services sales, plus a 15.7% increase in online sales, partially offset by persistent DIY macro pressures. Diluted EPS and adjusted diluted EPS1 include an 11 cent per share benefit from IEEPA tariff refunds, the company said.
Gross income was $8.6 billion or 33% of sales, compared with $8.1 billion, or 33.8% of sales the same period last year. Operating income was $3.55 billion, or 13.7% of sales, compared with $3.5 billion, or 14.5% of sales last year.
SG&A expenses were $4.5 billion, or 17.2% of sales, compared with $4.2 billion, or 17.4% of sales last year.
“Sustained growth in Pro, Online and Home Services led to our fifth consecutive quarter of positive comp sales, despite pressure in discretionary DIY spending,” said Marvin R. Ellison, Lowe’s chairman, president and chief executive officer. “While the near-term remains dynamic, our teams are executing at a high level, advancing our Total Home strategy and investing to drive growth and profitability. I would like to thank all of our frontline associates for their hard work and dedication to our customers.”
For the full first half, the company reported $49 billion in sales, up 9.2% from $44.9 billion in sales last year. Net earnings totaled $4.02 billion, or $7.17 per share compared with $4.04 billion, or $7.19 per share last year.
Gross income was $16.1 billion, or 32.9% of sales, compared with $15.1 billion, or 33.6% of sales. Operating income was $6.1 billion, or 12.5% of sales, compared with $6 billion, or 13.3% of sales last year.
SG&A expenses were $8.9 million, or 18.1% of sales compared with $8.2 billion, or 18.3% of sales last year.
Furniture is one of the many categories the company sells on its e-commerce platform, generating an estimated $680 million in sales, up .7% from $675 million last year, placing it at No. 26 on Home News Now’s 125 Furniture & Bedding Retailers ranking for 2025. Key categories include bedroom, dining, living room, home office, home entertainment, outdoor and bedding.
