Jan. 21-24 event offers 6 new bedrooms, 6 new dining sets and several new motion and stationary upholstery groups
FONTANA, Calif. — Dealers attending New Classic Furniture’s third annual First Look show next week will have a first look at new product available at aggressive pricing and discounts prior to the spring High Point Market cycle.
Held in the company’s 38,000-square-foot showroom here, the Jan. 21-24 event is expected to draw between 85 and 100 or more dealers, up from 55 at the first event two years ago. The mix will include six new bedrooms and six new dining sets, as well as five new motion upholstery groups and two new stationary upholstery groups.
Bedrooms include a group in a new oak finish and featuring headboard lighting that is targeted to retail for $1,299 for a bed, dresser, mirror and nightstand. The dining sets include a group targeted to retail at $599 for a table and four chairs and a larger group with a table that extends to 108 inches with two leaves that retails at $899 for a table and four chairs.

Stationary upholstery groups with sofa, loveseat and chair combinations feature sofas that start at $599. In the motion category is a group with a large sectional featuring three reclining seats that retails at $1,499. Two of the motion groups also feature individual recliners with heat and massage functionality that retail at $399.
At the event, dealers can take advantage of placement specials including discounts for new goods and inline goods. There will also be dinners each night as well as games and contests for dealers to participate in during the event. Customers also receive a credit for their airfare and hotel expenses.
“It is a good, fun show,” said Scott Hill, head of sales at New Classic. “This is our third show, and it continues to grow every year.”

While much of the attendance is from the West Coast, there also are dealers that attend from other areas of the country. Some 22 of its 50 reps are planning to attend, including reps from as far east as Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
For attending dealers, the event aims to live up to its name, offering them a “First Look” at product for the new year.
“It basically gives our customers the very first opportunity to see goods before premarket and before market,” Hill said. “It is great for distribution, and it is great to get an idea of what we are rolling out in anticipation of some good business in the spring.”
Based on reaction at the event, the company will decide whether to warehouse goods in both its Fontana and Martinsville, Virginia, warehouses.
“They are always in California, but we will make a decision whether to put them in Virginia as well,” Hill said. “And if the reaction is good to where we can get these goods ordered by the time we come to April High Point, we will have a lot of these goods on the water or in our warehouse for those customers that didn’t come out to California.”
