Universal debuts Dwell collection at High Point Market

HIGH POINT – Universal Furniture will launch the Dwell Collection during fall High Point Furniture Market, blending architectural inspiration with a casual and natural aesthetic. The collection features a variety of case goods, dining furniture and accent pieces crafted from materials including pine, cast aluminum and fiberglass-reinforced concrete with finishes ranging from light to dark.

At the heart of the Dwell collection is its architectural influence, drawing from iconic elements in homes and buildings across the country like post-and-beam construction and lattice. Natural materials are paired with light finishes to create a look that is both grounded and sophisticated.

Many pieces are made from lightly wire-brushed pine and come in three distinctive finishes: River Rock, a light finish; Boulder, a medium-brown; and Basalt, a bold, charcoal hue.

“The finish palette for the Dwell collection was carefully selected to reflect the natural world while providing versatility,” said Kayla Miller, director of marketing for Universal Furniture. “Each color complements the collections’ materials, from the warmth of the wood to the bold accents of cast aluminum and concrete, allowing the pieces to feel both timeless and modern.”

One of the collection’s standout design elements is closed latticework, traditionally associated with outdoor gardens. This design detail connects the collection to its architectural roots. Several pieces in the collection incorporate the latticework, including the Dwell panel bed and Dwell credenza, as well as a nightstand.

The Basalt credenza takes center stage as a handsome chest with lap-siding detail in a striking Basalt finish. Other notable design elements include case pieces with waterfall edges and framed drawer fronts for a visual offset, such as the striking 10-drawer dresser with recessed drawers. The utility cabinet is perfect for tight spaces without compromising style, thanks to its metal base and adjustable wood shelves with inset glass.

Dining room offerings in the Dwell Collection include the rectangular dining table in River Rock and Boulder, a unique table with integrated legs and a sleek sled base. Crafted with short grain banding along the edges, the table seats six comfortably, and with two 18-inch leaves, it can accommodate up to eight guests. A wood-back side chair is offered in two designs: a modern, more durable take on rush seating in woven nylon and a rake-back upholstered option in a stylish wishbone design.

Universal paid particular attention to flexible cocktail and ottoman pairings in the Dwell Collection, giving customers captivating options. A round bunching cocktail table has a small upholstered ottoman that fits underneath, offering flexibility and additional seating. Similarly, the Dwell nesting cocktail table features a rectangular cocktail table with dovetail construction that fits over a long rectangular ottoman, available in linen or leather. Both pieces are on casters for easy movement.

Several dwell accent pieces shine separately for their beautifully crafted details. The Dwell cocktail table, in the colors linen or charcoal, is made of cast concrete with ribbed detail and a pitted finish. The Dwell bar cart has travertine shelves for a chic touch to any gathering space and is available in smoked gold or smoked bronze.

“With the Dwell collection, we aimed to create a harmonious balance between natural elements and architectural design. We wanted each piece to feel connected to nature, yet sophisticated enough for modern living,” Miller said. “The result is a collection that combines clean lines, rich textures, and thoughtful details, making every item feel like a statement in form and function.”

Universal Furniture’s Dwell Collection can be seen at its showroom located at 101 S. Hamilton.
