MIAMI — Home Deco Expo International completed its inaugural run here, attracting an estimated 1,500 buyers to the Feb. 29-March 2 event.
Held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, the show featured exhibits from 65 home furnishings manufacturers, most of which were from Turkey, with the balance from Brazil, Malaysia and China.
The show occupied roughly 100,000 square feet of a total 250,000 square feet available for the event. With a three-year contract in place, the show is looking to be held the same time next year and in 2026, potentially occupying additional square footage available at the convention center should more manufacturers sign on.
As promised, the show presented buyers a mix of case goods, upholstery and other decorative furnishings — as well as lighting and flooring, plus hardware and other materials and components such as marble — from different parts of the world, offering retailers a mix of global sourcing solutions beyond their current vendor and manufacturer relationships.
“There is a great opportunity for buyers and the supply side,” said Oguz Gurdamar, show organizer, from the show floor on Friday.
He believes that despite some initial challenges in getting the event off the ground, the initial show was a success as some exhibitors have already expressed interest in showing again.
“Some are already selecting space for next year,” he said of interest among those who want to show again at the event
In addition to the exhibitions, the show featured an educational component including a presentation by headline speaker Ty Pennington, a nationally known designer, carpenter and TV host.
