by PONTOTOC, Miss. — Former Kuka Home President Matt Harrison has taken a role as executive consultant for SoMo Home, the rebranded Southern Motion upholstery specialist along with sister company Fusion Furniture.
Harrison had been president of Kuka Home North America for just over six years and before this was the company’s executive vice president of sales North America for nearly three years.
He announced his new role in the industry on LinkedIn late Sunday evening, while also referencing Man Wah subsidiary RDF Living, a resource for promotional and upper-end domestic upholstery. Man Wah acquired the Southern Motion and Fusion brands through a purchase of parent Gainline Recline Intermediate Corp. last December.
“Both have a long history of USA-made quality, value and style, with special-order capabilities,” he said of Southern Motion and Fusion.
“After 10 years at Kuka Home, including the past six as president, I’m taking on something special: rebuilding a fabulous brand that was recently purchased by the Wong family,” he wrote. “It’s a return to my roots. Almost 20 years ago, I started as one of five sales reps with the Wong family when they launched Man Wah/Cheers in the North American market. Now I’ll be leading the growth of their first USA manufacturing division, SoMo Home.”
He added that the company already has “a great team in place in Mississippi. The Wong family brings expertise, financial backing and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Zoe, her father and I are excited about the future of this Made in the USA special-order manufacturer and its unlimited potential.”
Harrison was also previously a national account manager at Kuka Motion from September 2016 to September 2020 and before that was a MidSouth to Midwest sales representative at Man Wah for more than nine and a half years. He also was previously a manager at Avanti Furniture for about nine years.
