Frost Law officials to be in High Point to help assist with tariff refunds

Firm encourages importers to set up meetings at market to discuss ways they can get their money back as soon as possible

HIGH POINT — Representatives from the offices of Frost Law AZ will be in town for the High Point Market this week to help assist importers of record navigate the complex process of tariff refunds.

The firm will have three representatives in town meeting with prospective clients in need of assistance with the refund process. While they will be reaching out to some companies prior to the market starting later this week, they will be in High Point from about the 24th through the 26th in order to catch key management officials when they are still in town.

“Our people will be networking trying to have those conversations,” a representative with the firm told Home News Now. “The goal is to get a decision maker with the company set up with one of our attorneys to go through everything and how we can help them.”

A government portal began processing claims April 20, following the U.S. Supreme Court Feb. 20 decision that the Trump administration overstepped its bounds by collecting tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. The representative said that given the amount of money at stake, companies can benefit from the legal services being offered, which in turn will help them collect what they are owed.

“This is fairly unprecedented in terms of the Supreme Court ruling,” the representative said of what will ultimately be owed to importers in various industries, not just furniture. “The amount of money going back to importers is about $180 billion, plus interest. As far as our team goes, we have trade attorneys with a couple of decades of experience and we have licensed customs brokers on staff. So we are very well set up. And because when they get these refunds there will be tax implications from previous years, we can help clients from start to finish no matter what the government decides to do here.”
