HOUSTON — Gallery Furniture’s Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale has announced that the company plans to close its 16-year-old Post Oak showroom here.
The company shared the news in an announcement on its website as well as on Facebook and Instagram.
While Gallery Furniture has not given a hard closing date for the store, located at 2411 Post Oak Blvd., an employee told Home News Now that the store would likely be closed within three or four months.

In keeping with his longstanding tradition of attention-grabbing promotions, McIngvale promised to conduct a “huge blowout sale” offering customers savings as high as 70% at each of three locations and online to thank customers for their loyalty and support.
The closing of the 30,000-square-foot store here at 2411 Post Oak Blvd. — the smallest of Gallery’s three locations — was not unexpected.
As far back as 2019, McIngvale observed that the store’s traffic dropped dramatically when the road the store is located on was torn up to accommodate a then-new BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) line, sources said.
Gallery Furniture’s other two locations are at 6006 North Freeway, Houston, and 7227 W. Grand Parkway South, in Richmond, Texas.
Houston-based Gallery Furniture is listed at No. 59 in Home News Now’s 125 Furniture & Bedding Retailers.
