CPSC announces recall of 28,590 chests sold at walmart.com

Units are unstable if not anchored to the wall, posing a tip-over and entrapment threat to children

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that 28,590 chests sold at Walmart.com are being recalled because of a tip-over and entrapment hazard.

The Gikpal 10-drawer chest

While no incidents or injuries have been reported, the agency said that the units are unstable if they are not anchored to the wall. This can cause tip-over and entrapment incidents that can result in injuries or death to children. In addition, the agency noted, the dressers violate performance and labeling requirements of the STURDY (Stop Tip-Overs of Risky Dressers on Youth) Act.

The recall involves the Gikpal 10-drawer chests bearing the model number HI1318_13. These units have a rustic brown finish on the front and top and a black finish on the sides and back and on the black hardware. They measure about 11.8 inches wide, 38.9 inches long and 39.4 inches tall, and weigh about 36 pounds.

The model number “HI1318_13,” “Fabric Dresser” and “Made in China” are printed on the product packaging.

Made in China, they were sold on Walmart.com from September 2023 through January 2025 for about $80.

The CPSC has advised consumers to immediately stop using the recalled dressers if they are not properly anchored to a wall and place them in an area that children cannot access.

Consumers can contact supplier ONME Direct at onmeus@outlook.com for instructions on how to receive a full refund, including the submission of a photo of the consumer disposing of the product. The CPSC said that ONME Direct and Walmart are contacting all known purchasers directly.

For more information, consumers can contact ONME Direct toll-free at 833-449-5777 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, via email at onmeus@outlook.com, or online at https://onmeus.com/pages/recall-1 or https://onmeus.com. A recall link is at the top of these pages.
