SALTILLO, Miss. — Upholstery manufacturer Bauhaus Furniture has written a letter to employees notifying them that the company is closing its doors effective March 10.
However, the situation could change as a number of prospective buyers have emerged, according to company President Daniel Lim.
Bauhaus offers a line of sofas and sectionals plus chairs and ottomans available in as many as 300 custom fabrics according to its website. The company also has a good better best, construction story with cushions consisting of pocketed coil springs encased in foam and featuring 36-42 inch deep sofas that offer two to four accent pillows it said are 100% feather filled and wrapped in 100% cotton down proof casing.
In his March 7 letter, Lim attributed the closing to challenges relating to the conversion to its new software system, the uncertainty of government tariffs and the continued soft business environment.
He said in the letter that the company’s HR department will open its building from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday for employees to collect their belongings.
“We are extremely grateful for the loyalty and continued support we have received from our wonderful employees over many years,” he said. “Your hard work and dedication have been the cornerstone of our business and we cannot thank you enough.”
The company said that Bauhaus employs 75 workers at its manufacturing facilities and its administrative offices in Saltillo, Mississippi.

“We feel a deep commitment to our associates, retail partners and friends; this has been a very difficult decision,” he said. “These relationships span decades.”
However, he said that ultimately “We determined our company’s resources are better allocated with our other business units,” which include sister furniture resources Bernards and SV International. “Bernards is realizing rapid growth and SV International remains
