RICHMOND HILL, Ontario — To help retailers mitigate the uncertainty of potential tariffs on Canadian-made products, upholstery and wood furniture resource Bellini Modern Living has created a protection program that will guarantee pricing on orders placed any time before tariffs are implemented. The company said it will “share the burden and minimize any impact as much as possible” when and if they are assessed.
In a letter sent to customers, Bellini Modern Living President Hossein Azimi said, “All orders placed before any tariffs take effect will be honored at their original price, regardless of shipment date.”

He also told customers that the brand’s made-in-Italy products, which represent the lion’s share of its line, will not be affected by the proposed Canadian tariffs, as they would “apply only to the country of origin.” However, products produced in Canada, including its custom upholstery, would be impacted by the tariffs.
President Trump has threatened the implementation of 25% tariffs on Canadian-made products, including furniture, unless the two countries can come to an agreement that would halt the flow of fentanyl and other illegal drugs into the U.S. The proposed tariffs, both on Canada and Mexico, have been delayed until the beginning of March, pending such an agreement.
“The message out of Washington on proposed tariffs is confusing and we wanted to give our dealers some certainty with this new program,” Azimi said. “We will have your back, share the burden and other than our domestic custom upholstery sofa program, the vast majority of our products come from Italy, which is not affected by the current tariff talk. We remain optimistic that this trade-related matter will be short-lived and that our cross-border collaborations will continue as usual.”
