Global Furniture USA acquires High Point showroom building

HIGH POINT – Full-line furniture resource Global Furniture USA has purchased a showroom building at 305 S. Hamilton St. downtown and plans to move into the building in time for the fall market cycle.

The company had been in a leased location at 115 S. Hamilton St. for the past eight years.

Located next to the Abbyson showroom at the corner of East Green and South Hamilton, the building was previously occupied by Fine Furniture Design for several years until it closed in spring 2020. Global purchased the building from property owner Sunny Designs just after the April High Point Market.

The building that Global Furniture purchased at 305 S. Hamilton was formerly occupied by Fine Furniture Design before it closed in spring 2020.

Global Furniture did not reveal the purchase price or other terms of the sale. However, it decided to invest in its own property because its lease was up in the other building and the company was tired of rents continuing to rise, company President Jeff Wallner told Home News Now.

At about 30,000 square feet, its new home at 305 S. Hamilton is about 2,000 square feet larger than the previous location. It also is on one floor versus two floors in the other building, Wallner noted.

In this space, the company will be able to display its line of bedroom and dining room furniture, upholstery, and occasional furniture that features transitional, contemporary and glam design elements that incorporate mixed media elements such as wood, metal, marble, mirror and glass.

Global also is among a growing number of companies that have invested in their own properties in High Point, including Rock House Farm, which owns Century and Hickory Chair, Jessica Charles, Maitland-Smith, Pearson and Hancock & Moore. Others that have acquired their own facilities downtown include Holland House, Najarian, Parker House, Riverside Furniture, Elements International and Wesley Allen, to name several.
