4 new collections from AICO receive solid reviews

HIGH POINT — Home furnishings importer AICO introduced four collections here, and the positive response combined with a solid Premarket reaction is sending them all into production.

At the entrance of the 8th-floor International Home Furnishings Center showroom right off the Commerce wing elevators, AICO is showcasing the latest from its Michael Amini Kathy Ireland Home Designs division. The Marquee and Marin collections are good-value contemporary bedrooms. Both are clean, high-sheen groups with Marquee in a light painted finish, while the also light Marin features an enhanced curly maple veneer with a marble top.

AICO is starting the collections with bedroom, but Executive Vice President Chuck Reilly said living room and dining will be added soon. And the response has been strong enough that AICO already is putting both into production. Supply chain constraints persist across the industry, but Reilly noted CEO Michael Amini owns a factory in Vietnam, and is able to control production of both collections there, “So we hope to ship before Chinese New Year.”

“We’ve had a very good response to Marquee and Marin since Premarket,” he added. “Our guys already are on the road selling via catalogs and they’re pleased. We wouldn’t have put this into production without some kind of hard orders.”

Brand new from the Michael Amini division is a full collection of bedroom, dining and living room called San Sebastian which employs a variety of materials and textures and ash wood in a light sandalwood finish. And from Michael Amini Jane Seymour Living, the company added to its popular Malibu Crest collection with crotch mahogany.

Reilly said both have seen the type of response that will send them into production, but with the backlog of other goods on order, they are currently slated to ship after the Feb. 12 Chinese New Year.
