Home Depot sees increase in Q2, 1st half sales

Furniture is an increasingly important part of the company’s mix, sold on the company website and available for pickup or delivery to the customer’s home

ATLANTA — Home improvement retailer Home Depot reported an increase in revenue for the second quarter and first half ended Aug. 2.

The retailer said that second quarter sales totaled $47.9 billion, up 5.7% from $45.3 billion the same period last year. Comparable store sales rose 1.7% and comparable sales in the U.S. rose 1.3%, the company said.

Net earnings for the period totaled $4.8 billion, or $4.79 per share compared with $4.6 billion, or $4.59 per share the same period in 2025, a 4.7% increase.

Gross profit totaled $16.1 billion, or 33.7% of sales, up 6.5% from $15.1 billion the same period last year, representing 33.4% of revenue. Operating income totaled $6.8 billion, or 14.3% of revenue compared with $6.6 billion, or 14.5% of sales last year, a 4.3% increase.

SG&A expenses for the quarter totaled $8.4 billion, or 17.6% of sales, compared with $7.8 billion, or 17.1% of sales last year, an 8.5% increase.

“Our second quarter results exceeded our expectations,” said Richard McPhail, executive vice president and chief financial officer. “We saw broad based demand across the business as customers continued to engage in smaller projects,”

“This quarter’s results were a testament to our investments across the business and our associates’ focus on customer service,” added Ann-Marie Campbell, senior executive vice president. “Our teams did an exceptional job executing throughout a dynamic environment, and I would like to thank them for their continued hard work and dedication.”

For the full first half, the company reported $89.6 billion in sales, up 5.3% from $85.1 billion the same period last year. Net earnings totaled $8.1 billion, or $8.10 per share, compared with $8 billion, or $8.05 per share the same period last year, a .9% increase.

Gross profit totaled $29.9 billion, or 33.6% of sales, up 4.6% from $28.6 billion, or 33.6% of sales the same period last year. Operating income totaled $11.8 billion, or 13.2% of sales, up 1.1% from $11.7 billion, or 13.7% of sales the same period last year.

SG&A expenses totaled $16.4 billion, or 18.3% of sales, up 7.1% from $15.3 billion, or 18% of sales last year.

Furniture is an important part of the company’s e-commerce business, representing an estimated $785 million in sales in 2025 according to Home News Now’s latest 125 Furniture & Bedding Retailers. Its mix includes a wide variety of furniture, including bedroom, dining, occasional, home entertainment, youth furniture, outdoor furniture and bedding to name several key categories.

Orders can be placed on the retailer’s website and be picked up at a local store or delivered to the customer’s home.
