Kalalou to introduce 400 new products at spring High Point Market

JACKSON, Miss. — Home accents specialist Kalalou is heading to the spring High Point Market with 400 new products and a growing selection of store fixtures on which they create engaging displays. So engaging, in fact, that many retailers will walk in and buy the display and everything on it.

“Updating fixtures is an easy way to inject a store with renewed energy and give customers another reason to come in and see what’s new,” said Josh McKay, vice president of sales and marketing at Kalalou. “You can remove all the product, change the fixtures, then put the same assortment back, and everything will look new again. We have seen instances where retailers will use this opportunity to advertise a grand reopening sale.”

Kalalou has been designing and manufacturing innovative fixtures, furniture and containers for display purposes for more than two decades, developing the category out of its own display needs at trade shows.

“With an ever-growing product range as diverse as tabletop ceramics, baskets, wall art, lighting, seasonal décor and single-stem botanicals, we are constantly developing creative ideas for display. Not only to show off all of our products, but also to maximize square footage in our trade show spaces,” McKay said. “It quickly became routine for customers to ask if they could take pictures in our showroom to replicate ideas in their stores, and it wasn’t long before they also began asking where they could buy these fixtures. Today, it’s a thriving category for us and we introduce new fixtures at every trade show in the same way we bring out new products.”

In High Point this month, Kalalou will unveil a new, architecturally inspired, five-piece Adobe Collection, a series of fixtures with a textured stone white ceramic clay finish combined with natural wood.

Among these, the Textured Arched Shelving Unit with Stairs Detail maximizes use of vertical height on a store floor. The interior of the nearly 6-foot-high display case features a series of stair steps within for safely displaying tabletop goods in eye-catching arrangements. The Arched Shelving Unit design from the collection is set apart with four wooden shelves for an upscale furniture vibe.

Tables, stools and benches, like the new Rustic Willow Wood and Silk Tree Bench, are becoming increasingly popular among Kalalou’s fixture designs thanks to the added function each provides, and McKay said, “make great foundational pieces when you need a riser to build upon and direct the eye.” Another bestseller in the table category is a set of nine Recycled Iron and Recycled Wood Display, which allows retailers to display at multiple levels. “We’ve seen retailers come in and buy five-plus sets at a time because of the price point ($699) and out-of-the-box ease of set-up,” he added.

McKay’s long-time favorite, however, continues to be the industrially inspired SixteenCube Display, featuring 16 deep cubes each open on both sides. “On rollers, it’s easy to swing perpendicular to a wall to create two distinct shopping areas for customers to explore.”

Sold separately, and ranging in price from $49 to $679, each of the new fixture pieces is ideal for displaying decorative accessories in full-line furniture stores where retailers seek elevated fixtures to inspire shoppers at affordable prices. That said, the company’s customer base spans retailers as diverse as florists, interior design studios and apparel boutiques who shop in the showroom with an eye not just for new products, but for inspiring ideas on merchandising and display.
