Hamilton Spill Furniture Group announces new ownership, relaunch of brand

Consumer goods specialist Polygroup has acquired an ownership stake, and the company plans to launch bedroom, dining and living room collections in April 2026

HONG KONG — Wood and upholstered furniture specialist Hamilton Spill Furniture Group announced it has been relaunched under new ownership and plans to reintroduce the global home furnishings brand to the U.S. and other markets for the first time since 2011.

The company said that consumer goods specialist Polygroup recently acquired an ownership stake in the business, marking a major move into furniture for the supplier of holiday lighting and Christmas trees, along with pools and pool toys.

Mick Verjee

Mick Verjee, longtime company executive and current CEO of Hamilton Spill Furniture Group, also has an equal stake in the company, the company told Home News Now.

In April 2026, it plans to introduce its newest collections of bedroom, dining and living room furniture, which are targeted to sell at middle to upper price points. It said that it is collaborating with international design studios that are working “to create collections that blend fashion, function and affordability.”

“Our goal is to rebuild Hamilton Spill with the same passion and credibility that defined its past, but with a broader and more inclusive global vision,” Verjee said in a statement. “We are creating furniture that feels universally relevant and that is timeless in design, practical in function and accessible in price. With our top leadership team as well as Polygroup’s partnership and global infrastructure, we’re positioned to serve retailers and hospitality clients worldwide.”

Hamilton Spill was founded in 1963 in Vancouver and acquired by the Verjee family in 1973. It started as a manufacturer of bedroom furniture but later expanded into other categories including living room furniture. Around 1986, the company shifted its focus to importing from Asia and entered the U.S. market in 1990, according to its LinkedIn profile.

The profile went on to state that the company moved its headquarters to Hong Kong in 2004 to better serve its global customer base.

Philadelphia-based importer World Imports purchased the company’s North American assets in 2011. However, that company was reported to have closed in late 2013, following a Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July of that same year.

While Hamilton Spill Furniture Group has remained dormant since then, Verjee has retained an ownership stake in the Hong Kong-based entity.

“Today, with our headquarters in Hong Kong and operations primarily in Vietnam — featuring strategic manufacturing partners and climate-controlled warehouses — we continue to innovate and lead in the furniture industry,” the company said on its LinkedIn profile.

Phillip Siler

Leading product development and sales is industry veteran Phillip Siler, vice president.

“Our renewed focus on design and product development will bring a sense of affordable luxury to today’s consumer,” Siler said. “Every piece in our collections is designed to deliver real value, beauty and purpose; it’s the kind of furniture people live with and love for years.”

Siler added that the timing of the relaunch is right because of the “tremendous amount of uncertainty in the marketplace. Hamilton Spill is coming out with a fresh look and approach to merchandising.”

Members of the company’s leadership team will be in High Point this week, where they will meet with prospective retail partners. It is also inviting those companies to visit its design studios in Ho Chi Minh City, where they can see early product prototypes and discuss new collaborations.
