MILAN — One of the best places to see the new trends in home furnishings is at the Salone del Mobile in Milan.

This furniture market only takes place once a year, so all the attending vendors must put their best foot forward in order to captivate their respective audience.

The fair itself happens in two places. First is the fair grounds in Rho which are permanent year-round convention centers that transform into furniture spaces for the event. The second location is in downtown Milan near the Duomo region. This is where a lot of the more established brands have their own physical store locations and is where they host their version of the events.

All this said, I was able to get a nice snapshot of many different brands and styles I thought were interesting while attending. Here’s a look at what I saw.

Here’s a look at the Kare (brand) collab room with Karim Rashid. A fun, modern collection of whole-home pieces and accents, featuring whimsical colors. There was a huge crowd draw here, with its one-of-a-kind appeal.

Check out this striking new Porta Romana home office from Alf Italia. It has great scale and high-gloss sides with a beautiful wood appearance, thanks to the natural walnut veneer tops.

This stunning new Ondea leather sofa group from Incanto features a rolled waterfall arm and vertical channel stitch. It is shown in a fresh new leather color called Lobster.

The Float sectional by Indera is a fun new motion-stationary combination shown in a bone white microfiber. It features wide seating on the ends and is shown with the rounded 75-degree angle chaise. Cool concept!

These striking contemporary Demonte Moi accent chairs from Paolonesi are shown in vibrant colors. They are comfortable, stylish and definitely one-of-a-kind!

Check out this cream-colored ceramic-top Rotolo dining table from Eforma. Also don’t miss the futuristic crescendo vortex-style base. Very original, indeed!

Here are two new motion sofas from Glam-More: Amelia, left, and Bon Ton, right. These fun stationary-looking reclining sofas feature an ultra-modern drop head and metal legs.

Voila — the Waldorf collection pieces from Satelliet Originals. They offer a fun play on traditional colors and feature contemporary script pattern fabrics. An eye-catcher, for sure!

This gorgeous low-slung Klarence sectional from Nicoline is shown in a streaky white, beige and green fabric. It also features a light whitewashed wood base with a sloping wraparound arm.

The Scervino frame from Franco Ferri offers a fresh new design seen in its exaggerated, channel-quilted leather. Really like the conversational shape and the on-trend shadow-green color.

The Loren sofa from Estro has an impressive basket-weave leather pattern on the sides in a Cognac color. Love the optional headrest and inside arm pillows!

Nicoletti Home showed this quilted, tufted sofa + chaise + ottoman group called Dance, which has a movable backrest for deeper or shallower seating. Nice splayed leg and movable headrest, too!

The Circle table from Scappini has a marble top and fluted burgundy wood base with a brass bottom surround. Also note the great Mocha Mousse (color of the year) veins seen throughout the surface of the table.

The Nefele iconic sofa by Egoitaliano was designed by the creative architect Giulio Manzoni. It features a lively and inviting cloud shape and a great high-low pile 3D fabric!

Mediterraneo from Meroni and Cozani is a modular sectional with a tight seat and back that is shown with an optional connectable floating table. Super high style!

And last, but not least, this is the oversized, high-gloss Chino credenza from Kepi. It has a great fluid shape and nice oversized medallion-shape hardware featuring mother-of-pearl detail.
