COLOGNE, Germany – The Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC) is pleased to announce its participation at interzum 2025, the premier international trade fair for furniture production and interior design, scheduled from May 20 to 23, 2025, in Cologne, Germany. This year’s event centers on the theme “Rethinking Resources: Circular and Biobased Solutions,“ highlighting sustainable practices in the industry.
SFC will contribute to this dialogue with a presentation titled “Materials Matter,” slated for Thursday, May 22, at 11:00 AM on the interzum Trend Stage. This session will delve into the pivotal role of sustainable materials in furniture design and production, covering topics such as environmental impact, responsible sourcing, and innovative solutions aligned with circular economy principles. Attendees will gain insights into current trends in sustainable materials and their influence on design, durability, and consumer preferences.

In addition to the presentation, SFC will host a booth in the USA/Canada Pavilion at Booth J19 in Hall 5.2, providing attendees with the opportunity to learn more about the council’s mission, initiatives, and resources dedicated to promoting sustainable furnishings.
interzum 2025 serves as a global platform for discussions on emerging trends and technological advancements in the furniture and interiors industry. The event is organized into three main exhibition segments:
- Function & Components: Showcasing technologies that enhance energy efficiency, comfort, and convenience, including fittings, lighting systems, and semi-finished products.
- Materials & Nature: Focusing on sustainable and environmentally friendly materials such as woods, veneers, decorative surfaces, and laminates.
- Textile & Machinery: Presenting innovative ideas and high-quality materials, including machinery for upholstery and mattress production, fabrics, leathers, and adhesives.
