Furniture of America plans new expanded East Coast distribution center in New Jersey

Facility will serve retailers in a 14-state area where the full-line furniture resource expects to achieve significant growth

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. — As part of a long-term plan to grow its business in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states, full-line furniture resource Furniture of America is looking to expand its presence in the region with a new warehouse and distribution center expected to open in early 2025.

The company currently operates a facility in Secaucus, New Jersey, that will continue to operate until the new distribution center, also planned for New Jersey, opens and begins shipping product.

While details were not immediately available about the size and capacity of the new corporately owned and operated distribution center, officials said that it will be significantly larger than the current facility. Further details will be available as the company secures a location to begin leasing starting early next year.

Like the current operation, the new distribution center will serve states that include Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.

But with a larger footprint, it will be able to ship a larger amount of products that are available through the company’s catalog.

“This is an exciting next step for FOA to expand and renew its presence on the East Coast where there is a heavy concentration of retailers including many of the Top 100,” said Jodi Brookshire, corporate vice president of sales and marketing. “This will enable us to have more of our extensive product line and have it ready to ship next day to our dealers with local delivery. The new space will also allow for a showroom to display new and exclusive items giving retailers an opportunity to experience the product anytime.”

The facility is in addition to FOA’s current domestic distribution centers in Mississippi, Texas, Georgia and Northern and Southern California. The company also continues to ship product container direct from Asia.

As part of its growth plan, the company also said it will expand its sales team in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast states. More details on this also are expected in the coming weeks.

And at the upcoming High Point Market, the company plans to have another 15,000-square-foot showroom at 142 S. Main St. This will be in addition to its main 30,000-square feet of space on the seventh floor of the Commerce Wing of the International Home Furnishings Center.

“This will allow for the display of more than 100 new introductions for dealers to view during the upcoming market and also support the coming expansion of our presence on the East Coast,” Brookshire said.
