LOS ANGELES — UMA Home Decor has named industry veteran Andy Stein as its new chief executive officer.
He replaces Naval Bansal, the former president and CEO who had been in that role for the past seven and a half years while also serving as vice president for the past 20 years.
Stein is the founder and former president and CEO of accent and occasional furniture specialist Stein World and was most recently owner and CEO of Coast to Coast Imports, also a specialist in furniture, lighting and other decor.
In his new position, he will oversee all operations at UMA, which offers more than 10,000 SKUs in stock across its 850,000-square-foot warehouses in California and Kentucky. The company estimates it has more than $100 million in inventory ready to ship within 24 hours of order placement, making it “positioned to provide fast and efficient service to its customers.”
Categories include dining furniture and seating, occasional, decorative accent furniture, home office and bar carts, as well as lighting, mirrors and outdoor furniture, to name several.
As CEO, Stein will oversee UMA’s corporate strategic vision and is transitioning the current management and sales teams from Coast to Coast into UMA’s existing leadership structure.
“The transition is a strategic integration of Stein’s extensive sourcing and manufacturing capabilities with UMA’s design expertise and expansive product offerings,” the company said.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Andy Stein to the UMA family,” said Ira Starr, founding partner of Long Point Capital, the primary investor in UMA. “I’ve known Andy for over 20 years, and bringing him on board allows us to leverage the strengths of both organizations. By combining Stein’s 30-plus years of design and sales expertise with UMA’s robust global sourcing, manufacturing and state-of-the-art shipping capabilities, we’re confident this partnership will elevate our operational efficiency and sustainability efforts.”
“Stein’s expertise in accent furniture will be an exciting addition to UMA’s already extensive home décor offerings,” Starr added. “Together, we will introduce thousands of new, high-quality designs, further expanding our product line and enhancing our customer experience.”
Stein said he is pleased at this opportunity, particularly given the depth and breadth of the UMA line along with the strength of its logistics and distribution network.
“UMA’s 850,000 square feet of warehouse space, fully stocked with over $100 million in inventory, and the ability to ship orders — from single items to truckloads — within 24 hours is a game-changer in the industry,” he said. “This eliminates the need for our customers to stock inventory, allowing them to focus on their core business while we handle the logistics.”
He also noted that adding key members of the former Coast to Coast Imports management team will ensure “a seamless integration of talent and expertise.”
Stein said he will be bringing his long-term global sourcing partner DK-Isqaa Sourcing from India “to expand better sourcing and quality assurance” for all new and existing lines for UMA.
