RH recalls 490 cribs that pose choking hazard because of loose parts

While no incidents or injuries have been reported, the recall alerts retailers and suppliers to the dangers associated with small components that can detach

CORTE MADERA, Calif. — Lifestyle retailer RH has recalled about 490 cribs that pose a choking hazard because of parts that can come loose and detach from the units.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on its website Thursday. While no incidents or injuries have been reported, the retailer has received two reports of the cylindrical metal inserts in the crib’s wooden frame coming loose and detaching, which poses a choking hazard for children. Some 480 units have been sold in the U.S. and another 10 were sold in Canada, the CPSC said.

While the recall involves a small number of units, it alerts suppliers and retailers alike of the dangers that can be associated with loose parts, particularly on products that are designed for babies and other children.

The recall involves the RH Baby & Child Jeune French Contemporary Upholstered Panel Cribs, that measure about 30 inches wide, 55.5 inches long and 42 inches high. Sold in a brushed gray, brushed light oak and brushed white oak finishes, the cribs feature upholstered end and lower panels and three adjustable mattress height settings. They also can convert into a toddler bed.

They are identified with the following initial six digits in the SKU number: 113210, 113313 and 113754. These numbers are printed on the receipt and also can be found on a label on the inner-lower portion of the upholstered panel.

Made in Vietnam, the units were imported by RH US LLC, of Corte Madera, California, and were sold at RH Baby & Child stores, RH outlets nationwide and online at https://rhbabyandchild.rh.com from January 2021 through March 2024 for between $600 and $2,900.

The CPSC has advised consumers to immediately stop using the recalled cribs and contact RH for a full refund of the purchase price or a new replacement crib with free shipping.

Those consumers who do not have a receipt will receive a $1,260 cash refund, store credit or a new replacement crib, also with free shipping. The CPSC also said that the retailer will provide free pickup of the crib and is contacting all known purchasers directly.

For additional information, consumers can contact RH toll-free at 833-611-1775 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Saturday and Sunday.
